Hundreds of volunteers rebuild Toronto Community Housing outdoor spaces in one day
TORONTO, Oct. 22 /CNW/ – A sea of orange is surrounding 3847 Lawrence Ave. East today as more than 500 ING DIRECT employees have gathered to revitalize the outdoor spaces around the east-end Toronto Community Housing high-rise. The community build, organized by Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds, will draw on more than 5,000 ING DIRECT volunteer hours to transform the area into a community hub for local residents.
“It means a great deal for our company to give back to our community, beautify our neighbourhoods and make them safer for families,” said Peter Aceto, President and Chief Executive Officer of ING DIRECT Canada. “Revitalizing this space and giving our employees a chance to engage with the community on a large scale project like this is both practical and rewarding. We hope that the results of our hard work help this community to flourish.”
ING DIRECT employees clad in their signature orange, with the help of local residents, will create two natural playgrounds, revitalize an existing playground, establish a community garden, community park and a soccer pitch and repair a basketball court – all in one day. The building is home to 800 people, while the outdoor spaces attract over 1,000 people from the wider community.
“We are pleased to be welcomed into this community to create a space where children and adults alike can reconnect with nature and form deeper bonds with one another,” said Bruce Sudds of Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds. “This project will truly transform the local neighbourhood and I applaud ING DIRECT staff and Toronto Community Housing for being dedicated to creating healthy and safe communities.”
“Toronto Community Housing’s vision is to contribute to a city where residents are proud of the place where they live, and where people feel connected to each other and their community,” said Mitzie Hunter, Chief Administrative Officer of Toronto Community Housing. “Thanks to this project, residents will have places to gather, interact and build the relationships that define communities and make them flourish.”
3874 Lawrence Ave. East is the third location to receive funding and in-kind donations from ING DIRECT Canada for new, natural playgrounds and revitalized public spaces in the past year. On each project, Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds have designed the new spaces and organized the community builds. In 2009, ING DIRECT helped to build Toronto’s first natural playground at McCleary Park in downtown Toronto.

About Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds
Bienenstock Natural Playgrounds engages communities to re-imagine and rebuild their public space through better designs, partnerships, and programs that connect their children and adults to nature. The parks and playgrounds we create reflect the natural heritage of the site and the needs of the community through a collaborative and inclusive design process, a skilled team of installers and well orchestrated community builds. Rolling hills, curling pathways, and giant logs and boulders and trees define spaces filled with art, music, and nature. These are playgrounds without barriers where children and families are encouraged to explore their imagination and this is the place in our community where we form four critical bonds with nature and each other. Projects can be found in public parks and at schools and child care centres across Canada and the USA. For more information, please visit www.naturalplaygrounds.ca.

Some economists are saying that the United States economy will begin to accelerate at a pace that no one expected. But can that really be true if they are going further and further into debt?
The United States is much more closely compared to Greece rather than Japan. The Japanese had savings and a strong trade surplus when their recession began.
The Federal Reserve’s balance sheet has grown dramatically in the past couple years. Much of the government’s debt is financed by Treasury Bills, and when interest rates go up, the premium will go sky high.
It doesn’t matter that the GDP numbers are going up. The actual economy isn’t growing. It’s mostly debt financed consumption by both the government and by individuals.
The best way to preserve your money is to look to acquire income streams in something besides dollars or euros.

Occupy Wall Street Protesters Arrested For Attempted Bank Account Closing – Citi Bank Oct 15
NYC Fire codes… You can not lock people indoors! http://www.nyc.gov/html/dob/downloads/bldgs_code/bc27s6.pd
Security locked Citibank customers inside as they arrested 23 #OccupyWallStreet protesters for attempting to close their bank accounts during a mass public action this afternoon. Watch the live stream as protesters march on Times Square at 3:00pm on Saturday.
The Wall Street Journal has confirmed the arrests. According to their report, 24 people were arrested. The protesters who tried to close their accounts were asked to leave by CitiBank and when they refused, they were arrested for trespassing. Some were arrested outside the bank for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
12:17 PMMeena HartensteinTo those of you hearing reports of a standoff and arrests at Chase Bank at Astor Place, our photographer on the scene says about 40 protesters talked about getting arrested and had a brief sit-in before getting up at the last second and avoiding arrest.
Occupy Movement News Update of the Day: Occupy Santa Cruz protesters who attempted to close their Bank of America accounts were denied service last week because, according to the branch manager, “you can not be a protester and a customer at the same time.”
Reached out for comment by Central Coast News, BoA spox Colleen Haggerty parroted this anti-protesting policy, saying “It is our responsibility to ensure a safe environment for customers to conduct financial transactions. So, due to the disruptive nature of protests lately and the potential for safety or security issues, we do not allow protesters inside of our banking centers.”
“If a customer who is participating in a protest wishes to conduct bank business,” she added, “we ask them to come back when they are not protesting or they may also conduct their bank business at a nearby branch away from protest activities.”
24 Occupy Wall Street demonstrators were arrested yesterday, reportedly while attempting to discontinue their relationship with Citibank.
In response to a video showing the protesters being forcefully locked inside the bank’s La Guardia Place branch to await arrest, Citi released a statement denying Occupy Wall Street’s version of the events.
“A large amount of protesters entered our branch at 555 La Guardia Place around 2:00 PM today [October 15],” said the company’s public affairs department. “They were very disruptive and refused to leave after being repeatedly asked, causing our staff to call 911. The Police asked the branch staff to close the branch until the protesters could be removed. Only one person asked to close an account and was accommodated.”
The statement goes on to note that none of the protesters was “arrested for closing an account,” and that locking the branch with the demonstrators inside was the NYPD’s idea.
In related news, at least 42 people were arrested at last night’s Take Times Square convergence, which was attended by thousands. Hundreds of protesters were arrested in solidarity demonstrations around the country, including as many as 175 people in Chicago’s Congress Plaza.
Some 1,600 cities worldwide held Global Change protests yesterday, joining a movement that will mark its one-month anniversary tomorrow.

http://www.CandlestickForums.com – Short Term Investment
There are two things a person may be looking for in a short term investment. One is a place to park their money that is safe and pays better than a bank savings account. The other is a way to profit from the ups and downs of the stock market. The first just has to do with checking out interest rates on T Bills, CD’s, and other short term debt instruments. The second is where technical analysis tools such as Candlestick pattern formations can help a person to trade stocks and make a substantially better profit than the bank offers or even what one can gain from long term investing.
Short term investment in stocks can be extremely profitable. It can be more profitable, over the years, than long term investing. This is because the rate of return on long term stock investment is typically not linear. Market volatility, market trends, and market reversal all affect stock prices, even of the most stable of stocks.
Doing basic and fundamental analysis of stocks and then reading market sentiment with Candlestick analysis gives traders and short term investors the ability to buy stock and sell stock at the most opportune times. Short term investment capitalizes on buying at the bottom of a price curve or short selling just as a market correction hits. Longer term investment depends upon analysis of intrinsic stock value and a stock’s margin of safety. Short term investment thrives on the precise analysis of stock price changes that Candlestick signals provide.
How one approaches short term investment will depend upon the investor’s time frame. If an investor needs his funds in a few days he probably should stick with a money market account. If his time frame is a month and he absolutely must have his initial capital he probably ought to stay short term and deal with his bank. Short term investment, for those with investment capital, capitalizes on short term movements in stocks and is not simply a means of parking ones money until it is needed for another purpose. That is not to say that short term investment needs to be risky. The investor can choose conservative investments.
Short term investment uses options trading to insure against risk while nailing down market opportunity in stocks, commodities, and futures. By buying puts or buying calls on a stock the trader pays for the right but does not incur any obligation to buy in the case of a call option or sell in the case of a put option, should the price of the stock move as anticipated. The investor will use Candlestick patterns as a guide to where the stock price will go next.
He will trade options as a backup in order to reduce investment risk. When the market moves as predicted by his reading of Candlestick stock charts the investor will make short term profits. If the anticipated stock price movement does not materialize the short term investment is only short the premium paid for the option.

USA gives interest rate of 0.25% on a savings account. A savings account in India or Pakistan gives 10-15% on local currency savings accounts. That is a big difference. Why can’t I make money by exchanging US dollars to local currency and opening an account in these countries? I know the currency buys and sells at different rates but shouldn’t that huge interest rate should easily offset that. Please explain. Thanks!
Your money is not federally insured in other countries.
