Where can I find the best UK savings rates?

Posted by admin on March 30th, 2010 and filed under best savings rate | 5 Comments »

I am happy to have either instant or 3 month access.

Currently the top rate on offer for instant access is from ING Direct, which is offering customers a rate of 3.93% on its savings account or Yorkshire BS and Barnsley BS are paying 3.75% on their online accounts.

If you can give notice then FirstSave is paying 4.50% on its 90 day notice account or 4.00% on its 30 Day notice. Alternatively Progressive BS is paying 3.75% on its 7 Day notice account.

What is the highest bearing interest Savings account in the UK?

Alot depends on your circumstances.
Are you over 50? Do you want it tax free? Do you mind opening another account with the same people or a dripfeeder account? Do you want an online account or branch based? Etc etc.
Either way, www.moneysupermarket.com is the place to be.
I think Alliance and Leicester have an 8.5% account at the minute but check the small print, it makes it untenable.

The personal savings rate rose to 4.2 is that a good thing or a bad thing?

the savings rate last year was -1% which means people were spending money they didn’t have!

Everyone should try to save some money every month. Everything that you buy becomes more expensive when you have to pay interest on it.

Can I use a savings account instead of checking for paypal?

I’m being asked to verify my new paypal account with my checking information. I know I have to have an account in order to get payed from them, but can I use a savings instead of checking? I more or less just want the money to build up and accumulate so I have some savings to fall back on.

Yes, you can. I confirmed my savings account. Just be sure to make note of the small deposits that are made.

I want to know which bank has the best saving account like the interest, fees, giveaways, hidden fees, hidden items, do you have to have a bank account with them. I just want to know because I am considering to open one immediately and I just want to know. The banks are around me are CitiBank, Bank of America, Washington Mutual, Wells Fargo, Bank of the West, and much more in the Orange County or Irvine area, but the one listed above are the one I have seen so far or remember them the best. Thanks!

Chose the bank which has many branches and ATMs’. Verify how much they are paying interest for the saving acct.
